I, as a member of the NEXUS Climate Change Working Group, which includes experts like Dr. Michael Dorsey, Professor Amanda Ravenhill, and experts from the corporate and philanthropic worlds, attended the Arctic Circle Summit in Reykjavik, Iceland in Oct. 2016. We met with high level ministers and former President Grimmson. It is clear that Iceland is a leader in renewable energy and can transfer technologies, along with finance, to developing countries. I was sad to learn about the status of indigenous populations, particularly in Greenland and Alaska – clearly the Arctic and polar regions have their own issues with inequality and climate justice.
